Butter and Cream

Today I took Bridger into the doctor. She was expecting Bridger to be at least to his birth weight, but he was beyond that. He is an overachiever already.

Weight 7 pounds 7 oz (up almost a pound)
Height 20.5 inches
Apparently my milk is cream and soon Bridger will be a butter ball.

Best big brother

Canyon is the best big brother. He wants to hold Bridger all the time. He gives him hugs and kisses. He asks for him first thing in the morning. He even shares his beloved Lightning McQueen car. Now that is love. I am so pleased with how Canyon has adjusted to Bridger. I hope the adjustment to Bridger sharing Canyon's room in a few months is just as smooth.

Happy Fathers Day

Bridger is here. He couldn't wait for the doctors to be in town.

So now here is the story. I worked on the the 18th. I was floated to our NICU which made me happy. I took care of one baby rather than the 3 I would have had on my own unit. So I sat for 12 hours holding and rocking a little baby hoping that the braxton hicks I was experiencing would stop. I was schedule to work on Fathers day and I told my charge nurse that I wanted to go back to the NICU and have my same easy squeezy assignment. I was determined that I could stay pregnant until the end of the month. And home I went still having contractions but now they were getting a little more noticeable.

At 8:00 pm they were definitely more the just braxton hicks. They were coming more frequent and more painful. I called my charge nurse and told her I probably wouldn't be coming to work. At this time John is running around packing a bag for himself. I am still in denial that the baby was coming. At 10:30 I stood up and oops I wet my self... so I thought. It just kept coming. At this point there is not denying that Bridger was coming so I called my friend to come spend the night with Canyon and I packed my bag. And off we go the hospital.

11:30 we arrive. They determine that it is in fact my water that has sprung a leak and not my bladder and we are admitted. 1:00 am I decide to get an epidural. At 1:30 am it is in place and I feel good about my decision. At 2:00 am I am dilated to 7 cm. The nurse said she would come check my progress at 3:30. At 3:15 I am so so so ready to push. The nurse says "call the doctor, but he won't make it though." The resident starts to put his gloves on and out comes the head. The nurse held Bridgers head while the resident finished putting his gloves on. On June 19th at 3:17 Bridger was born. 6 pounds 9 ounces and 18 inches long.

Waiting to determine if I was really in labor or not.

Swollen red face. It is amazing how much they change in a matter of hours.
Now we are home and Canyon wanted to hold Bridger and eat at the same time. He was so tender with Bridger. He gave him hugs and tried to give him some of his lunch.

I can't wait for tonight. A friend of mine is going to come and take some great professional photos of our two most amazing little people.

2 cm and 50%

I may be having baby Bridger very soon. I am progressing along and with my busy shifts at work that may very well put me into labor. I am not too pleased with this. Both my OB and Pediatrician are out of town for the week and I really really want them here for the birth. So if anyone reads this send positive thoughts my way.

We are preparing for baby and so we took the side rail off of Canyon's crib. Bad idea. He fell out about six times. Finally by 4 am I told John to put the rail back on. The next day Canyon remembered his eventful night. He stated "fell out of bed, Canyon sad". So needless to say we have the rail on the crib. My brother and sister in law gave us their toddler bed and we have successfully transitioned Canyon to the bed. But now the problem is he gets up out of bed numerous times in the morning.... very very early morning. How do we keep a 2 year old in is bed until a more appropriate time???? Help!

Canyon turned 2 on June 11th. We didn't have a huge party. We kept is incredibly small. Canyon had lots of fun.

Yum Yum.
His favorite part of the party. His new Thomas the train set. He can't go anywhere without that train. Thanks Mom.
Canyon is fasinated with bugs. He found a bunch of ants and then tried to picked them up to eat them. No no bugs are not for eating.

He loves my head bands.
My brother dropped off the toddler bed. As he was driving away he ran completely over Canyon's favorite bike. He flattened it into a metal pancake. I am so grateful Canyon was not on the bike but oh that was one sad event. Now Canyon says "bike smooched, fix it, Canyon sad". The look on Canyon's face explains how he feels.

Weekend fun

Canyon loves to get into my makeup. He managed to open my mascara and begin to beautify himself. He did a good job huh?

Canyon's new big boy potty. He loves to sit on it but he doesn't want to go potty on it. But this weekend before the potty was purchased he did go poopies on the toilet. Good job Canyon!!

I was so happy to get half of my shift off at work so I could go to my moms for Easter. We had a traditional dinner with ham and potatoes, we had an Easter egg hunt and we sykped with my two sisters who live in Hawaii.

Today I had the opportunity to get another ultrasound. At my 20 week ultrasound the baby was measuring small and they couldn't get a good picture of his heart. Also my placenta was showing that it was low near my cervix which would mean a c-section if it didn't move up. All the news is great. Baby Bridger is growing well. His heart has four chambers with no septal defects, no hypoplastic heart, and no transposition of the great vessels. In normal terms the heart is perfect. His brain is a good size, no ventricular problems or hydrocephalus. He has no gastroschesis or oomphalocele which means his belly is all inside and looks normal. As a nurse at Primary's I see all of these things and pray that I will never have to endure the trials that the families I care for do. So far we are on good track.

This is a picture of his foot and leg.
He is still a boy.

A little profile.
His little arms are crossed over his chest. So cute.

This one is hard to see but he is sucking on his hand. Again so cute. At one point during the ultrasound he yawned and he has a big mouth, hopefully not a big cry to go with it.

Finally some sunshine

Finally Canyon and I were able to enjoy some much needed outside time. He played on his bike while I painted my toe and fingernails.

He sure loves his bike.

While I painted my nails he watched. Then he put his hand on my leg and said "me, me, me", so I painted his nails. For the next three hours he held his hand out and blew on his nails, he didn't use his hand during that time either. He was determined not to mess up his pretty pink nails. And no I am not ashamed to have a son who likes to look pretty.

Last week the Rogers family took a road trip to sunny St. George. Although it was not all that sunny. Canyon doesn't do well in the car if it is more than an hour or so. We came prepared with DVD's. Unfortunately it only lasted about 1/2 hour.

Canyon loves dogs, especially this one. Oliver would give Canyon kisses. Canyon got to the point of putting his face in Oliver's face just to receive those wet stinky kisses.

The one and only warm and sunny day. We took advantage of the pool. Canyon sporting amazing shades.
Canyon is our next Justin Beiber. (Who ever that is. )

On our trip I learned that Canyon is a deeper sleeper than I thought. Which makes me happy since Canyon and our new little one will be sharing a bedroom very soon. I also learned that he talks in his sleep. He says things like "no no no", "truck, ball, car". And my child moves A LOT in his sleep.

MORE DOO PLEASE!! doo= music

After our trip Canyon was so totally worn out. John said he slept from 1:00-4:30. That is unheard of in the Rogers household.

Today Canyon and I took a bubble bath together. He wanted out so I got him out while I stayed in the tub. He went to the toilet and said "potty, more potty" and then he squatted and preceded to poop on the bathroom floor. Maybe it is time to start potty training?
