It's potty training time

I am now potty training Canyon. The other day John went into Canyon's room in the morning and there was a open poopy diaper on the floor with used wipes next to it. John thought that I left it there from the night..... because I do that right??? No. So we decided it was time. It has been about a week and a half, we have had many many accidents including poopies. So to encourage no accidents we have amazing CARS underwear and a potty jar that every time he goes in the potty we put a pom pom in the jar. And when the jar is full we get to take a ride on a train aka Trax. Wish us luck.

Canyon favorite thing to do is push a little cart at the grocery store. I decided to put Bridger in the cart to let him have a ride. Bridger loves it and Canyon LOVES pushing Bridger around. The little old ladies just giggle as we walk on by. I have had numerous people asking how much for the baby. "oh this sweet thing is not for sale"I say.

Every morning I wake up to Canyon knocking on his door telling me he is awake. This is between 5:00-5:30. That is way too early to be awake so I give him a sippy with milk and put him in front of the TV to watch Sesame Street. In one week he was trying to be helpful by helping himself to food. On Monday I woke up to him eating a pumpkin pie. Tuesday he was eating a pear and the juice was every where. Wednesday he poured a half gallon of chocolate milk all over the coffee table and down onto my carpet. And on Friday he wanted bananas. Friday I decided to not get mad and instead take a picture because he is after all trying to allow me to sleep a little longer.

Bridger is just so stinkin cute. I can't even stand it sometimes. He is happy most of the day. He is easy to put down for naps and bed. He loves his baths and bottles. He loves to watch Canyon, he now laughs at Canyon. He climbs over me and give me raspberries on my belly. Oh how I love my boys.

Christmas, Happy New Year and POOP!!!

Christmas was lots of fun. Canyon didn't get it. He liked the presents but when asked who brought the gifts he just looked at us with a blank stare. Maybe next year he will understand.

Santa gave a Lightening McQueen. The most amazing car EVER.

I was getting Bridger ready for a bath. He flexed his belly and gave the poop face so.... I put him on the potty and sure enough there was success. He had a very big poopy. It was pretty amazing. Canyon had to look at it. I sure hope this is the beginning of potty training Canyon. If Bridger can do it so can Canyon, RIGHT??

Bridger is so proud of himself and so are we.

November... what?...is it over??

Our foundation was leaking and so the construction began. We were not expecting it to be so much remodeling but it had to be done. Mold, yucky wet carpets and wood paneling all had to go. This is the room all torn down. Canyon thought it was pretty awesome. He wanted to see the "rocks" everyday. Really it was plaster but he didn't know. John, his brother Nate, and our neighbor did the hard labor. I did the paint. Thank you Nate!! You are a lifesaver, thank you for teaching John some skills, now I can say John is not just a bike man.

Before
After
Canyon absolutely loves his new room. If you ask him if he likes it his face gets real bright, his smile gets huge and he says "yes, yes, yes I do."
So with the room done we played musical rooms here. Canyon went downstairs, Bridger went into the nursery upstairs and John got off the couch and is now back is our room. Yeah happy days at the Rogers house. Bridger is sleeping better through the night. I am now only waking up once at night to feed and back to bed I go. It is great to finally be getting some much needed sleep.

In the middle of the room construction was the crazy wind storm. We were out of power for about 48 hours. It was cold and dark. It felt like we were camping especially sporting these amazing head lamps. We survived the power outage but it sure made me think of better ways to be prepared. For example it would probably be a good idea to have the emergency gear in one spot so we don't have to go looking for it all. Just a thought.

Just a cute picture of Bridger. He is now sitting pretty well. I put him in the pack and play and this is what he looks like. His little face peaking over the side rail. So cute.
It's a miracle. Canyon fell asleep watching Cars. This is a first for him. He is so routine, he must be in his bed with his sippy cup and blanket. But not this day. Yeah.

My Little Things!

My double stroller. Pretty sweet huh?

Flyin' time with dad.

Getting cozy on the couch.

These are the best picture I could get with my uncooperative 2 year old. We are lucky he had his hair piece still on.
Miss Hadley. My little niece.
Josh and Boston. Our super hero toys.Jeremy, Darla and Paul. Jeremy dressed up as his dad. He was pretty spot on with the impersonations. Trick or treating. Canyon didn't quite understand it. He kept taking the candy out of his bucket and giving it to me. His bucket is only for cars apparently.
Canyon actually giving the candy back to the man. We only went to two houses and Canyon was done. He so doesn't get the point, maybe next year.

Similarities

Canyon

Bridger

In both these pictures they are about 3 1/2 months. They look like brothers don't they??

Thank you for all the concern about Bridgers health. He is doing better. He is drinking a little more everyday and he no longer is having temperatures. He will be good and new soon.

A trip to the ED

Yesterday I couldn't deny that Bridger needed to be seen at PCMC emergency department. After 5 days of fevers with a temperature hitting at a scorching high of 102.7. I took him in. Blood, urine, boogers and a chest x-ray were taken. He was given a bolus of IV fluids. He began to perk up a little but then he spiked another temperature. We were then transfered to the rapid treatment unit for observation. They didn't want to send him home until the temperatures were under control and he began to drink better. Evenutally some of the lab work came back. He has Adenovirus. A common virus that invades the respiratory tract and the GI tract. It causes babies to have fevers, to be congested and have diarrhea. Because of the congestion Bridger was not drinking and became dehydrated, so that is why he got the fluid bolus. After 12 hours of sitting, sucking out boogers and him getting IV fluids he started to drink a little. He was not drinking enough to go home, he only drank 4 oz the whole day, but the doctor knows me and knows that I know what to do for a sick baby so she sent us home. I am so thankful for my knowledge and experience but it is so different when it is your own baby. I was sad, stressed and scared, but once we got to the hospital all my fevers went away and the nurse in me came out. I was composed.

Now we are home and Bridger is getting better. John gave him a blessing. He has had a low grade temp but nothing bad. He is drinking but it needs to be in a bottle. So I am pumping and feeding. Not the most convenient but anything to keep him hydrated. Hopefully soon he and Canyon will be 100% again. (Canyon has it too but not as bad).
